The Wildcat barn

Fascinating Insights

This modern exhibition is the place to start when visiting the wildcat village. A lot of information about the wildcat and the forests they call home can be found here.

The areas

Directly right of the entrance is the Wildcat shop (1). Here you can purchase the tickets to the exhibition as well as a wide variety of cat-themed souvenirs - pillows, keychains, plush animals, cups and even soap. A lot of our products were created in the region by people with disabilities. Right in front of the counter, you can see a monitor with a life transmission of a camera feed overlooking the cat enclosures (2). To the right, there is our National park corner (3). A national park ranger is available for questions about anything park-related on weekends and during holidays. In the middle of the hall, you'll find the Discovery forest (4), complete with the Wildcat cave (5). Here you can get a first peek at a wildcat and some mice. There is also a "lure stick", a tool to determine whether wildcats are present in a forest. Next to that is an Info table (6) which provides an opportunity to sit down as well as a small audiobook and info material.

The big image wall (7) shows a lot of animals that share their habitat with the wildcat. The cinema (8) behind the wall features informative movies about the wildcat and an image slideshow. On the sides of the image wall, there are info panels about the wildcat (9) and the project "Safety net for the wildcat" (10). A 3D model (11) of Germany allows you to check where in the country wildcats are still found.
