Watch real wildcats live!
This is the centerpiece of the village. Here, four real wildcats can be admired live and in colour.
Out in the wild, you would never encounter a wildcat – they are way too shy and have very sensible ears, eyes and noses, so they would notice you and escape to safety long before they even got in sight. However, our four specimens have long learned that they are safe behind their fences and have no problem strolling around in the open where everyone can see them. Their compounds are designed to resemble their natural habitat very closely, giving them places to hide, climbing opportunities and even water ponds. In whole, the enclosure is 550m² big, with each of the three compounds bigger than 100m². A small watchtower gives an overview of the facility, and an earth cavern brings one on eye level with the cats. This way, you can view the wildcats from many different perspectives.
However, the cats aren’t the only inhabitants. The favorite prey of our stars can be seen too. During the summer, two different types of mice frolic and play in two terrariums; especially our younger visitors enjoy that sight quite a bit.
